Do you want to be a part of this? Of course you do! You may not realize it yet, but you do!
Our mission at CrossFit 65/69 is to empower our community, educate them, and inspire a life of wellness with such enthusiasm that our community is impassioned to share this empowerment in their daily lives. Competition helps to inspire: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your best friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher level. Heck, watching your teammates push themselves is INSPIRING.
Can we bring that worldwide thrill home? Can we deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks? We did it last year where brand new members only months into CrossFit tried their hand at CrossFit “competition.” With the scaled division added year, this provided more people to have a chance to test their fitness and push to the limits.
This year we’re going to have two intramural teams competing and you can be on one of them. DO YOU HAVE TO BE ON A TEAM? NO!!! This year if you want to show up and volunteer that is totally fine just write your name in the volunteer section on the white board. But trust me, showing up and competing will be so much fun!!
The two intramural team Co-captians have been chosen:
Team One (Name TBD) - Kelley/Jared Vanderlinden, Lisa Higens
Team Two (Name TBD) - Sarah/Jared Crumly, Taylor Batt, Justin Noethe
WHAT IS THE CROSSFIT OPEN?
The CrossFit Open is a world wide competition within the CrossFit community. CrossFit HQ releases workouts via games.crossfit.com at 7pm CST Thursdays for 5 weeks. (So even your coaches have NO IDEA) what the workouts will look like. Athletes from all over the world register on games.crossfit.com for $20 and have the opportunity to plug your scores in and be ranked. Visit games.crossfit.com for more info on scaled and rx workouts and details.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE INTRAMURAL AT CROSSFIT 65/69?
Every Friday night for 5 weeks you and your team will compete during the Friday Night Lights to earn points for your team. You can be RX or scaled, this doesn't matter just showing up and doing the WOD (in whatever way) will get you points. You will also receive points for team SPIRIT!! What does that look like?? Your team decides!! Bring your friends, family and adult beverages. Yes, you heard that right. Stick around and watch the other heats take on the WODs, have an adult beverage and make a night out of it. CF6569 is going to be THE place to be on Friday nights!
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TEAM I AM ON?
You can join either team you would like if you want to join in our events. Look on the whiteboard by the wall balls to see who is on each team. So check with a captain or write your name on the board! This is all for fun and maybe pizza dinner for the winning team!
Workouts will be released via games.crossfit.com at 7pm CST Thursdays for 5 weeks. Athletes submitting scores in the Open will have until Monday at 7pm CST to complete and submit scores for each workout. We’re going to complete each workout every Friday during Friday Night Lights beginning at 6pm. You will receive heats and times the day before.
You may complete the workouts during the normal WOD times. You may also make up during another time. Make up times will be immediately following Saturday WOD, during Open Gym Sunday 3-5 or Open Gym Monday from 1-3pm.
+2 Points – Attendance to “Friday Night Lights:” Every member of a team that completes an Open workout at CrossFit 65/69 during the designated times. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors! Only +1 point for those that complete the workout not at designated "Friday Night Lights". (If you attempt to get a better score and re-do the workout you will only receive a score once.)
+3 Point – Top two men and top two females in both Rx and Scaled that are participating online through games.crossfit.com will get an extra point for their team. If the top scorer is not participating online this point will go to the next top scorer who is participating online.
+5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points. This will be determined by coaches.
